Drop the STEP file from your engineering team. Get a light, web-ready GLB, a USDZ for iPhone and a copy-paste 3D viewer with a “View in your room” button. Your CAD never leaves your browser.
Open CASCADE (the CAD kernel used by FreeCAD) runs in your browser as WebAssembly. The file is tessellated, merged by material, simplified with meshoptimizer, given clean normals, centred on the floor in metres and compressed.
Free embeds show a small “3D by CAD2Web” badge. Pro removes it.
The NIST CTC-02 test part — a 2 MB AP242 STEP file published by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology for CAD testing. Converted here with the default settings and the “Anodised aluminium” material preset.
On your phone? Tap View in your room under the model. On a computer, scan the code to open the AR view on your phone.
Model: NIST MBE PMI Combined Test Case 2 (nist_ctc_02_asme1_ap242-e2.stp), U.S. Government work, public domain — “can be used without any restrictions”. Source: nist.gov. NIST does not endorse this product.
The export your designers already have — SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, NX, Fusion, FreeCAD, CATIA. IGES works too.
Hidden detail goes, sharp edges stay. Parts are merged by material, meshes simplified and compressed — typically to a few megabytes.
Upload the GLB and USDZ to your shop and paste the viewer. Customers spin it in 3D and place it at real size in their room.
The converter runs on your computer, so there is nothing to install and nothing to set up. Prices in EUR including VAT.
Payments are processed by Mollie (cards from anywhere, Apple Pay, iDEAL, Bancontact…). By buying you accept the Terms.
No. Reading, tessellation, optimisation and compression all run in your browser tab (Open CASCADE and meshoptimizer compiled to WebAssembly). You can disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and it still works. Only the optional Pro hosting uploads the finished GLB/USDZ — never the STEP file.
Drop the .stp/.step file above, keep the recommended settings, press Convert and download the GLB. It is glTF 2.0 binary — the format Shopify, WooCommerce 3D plugins, model-viewer, Babylon.js and three.js read.
Every conversion also creates a USDZ file for AR Quick Look on iPhone and iPad. The embed snippet references both files, so iOS opens Quick Look and Android opens Scene Viewer or WebXR.
Draco is the default because every major viewer decodes it without extra setup. Meshopt files are usually a little smaller and open faster; the snippet then loads a small decoder from this site.
Units are read from the STEP file and converted to metres. If the exporter wrote the wrong units, use “Size correction”. If the model lies on its side, switch “Up axis in CAD”. The result table shows the real dimensions in millimetres so you can check before downloading.
STEP carries colours, not textures. We keep the CAD colours, or you can apply a preset (steel, aluminium, chrome, plastic, matte black, oak). For photo-real textures open the GLB in Blender afterwards.
Assemblies up to several hundred MB work on a desktop with enough memory. On phones keep files under ~20 MB. The target size setting keeps the result small for mobile shoppers.
